Triple industry recognition for PR founder

Tillymint founder Alison Gallagher-Hughes is on course for an awards hat-trick after major regional and national recognition over recent weeks.

Alison won gold at the CIPR (Chartered Institute of Public Relations) Midlands Awards in last month and was named in the Independent Impact 50 Awards, last week, which recognises the UK’s most influential independent PR practitioners.

The CIPR Midlands Awards ceremony took place at the Library of Birmingham on 23 April, while the Independent Impact 50 was celebrated on 7 May at The Swan Restaurant at Shakespeare’s Globe in London.

She has now been shortlisted for the CIPR Excellence Awards as Independent PR Practitioner of the Year.

The recognition marks a standout moment for Alison and her consultancy, launched in 2020 after a career across journalism (Hereford Times, Shropshire Newspapers and Express & Star), public sector communications and in-house and agency leadership.

Alison said: “The last few weeks have been incredibly special – and I’m proud to see my work recognised by peers and industry judges. Independent consultancy means juggling strategy, delivery, new business and professional leadership – so recognition across the board feels hugely rewarding.”

“I’m passionate about championing ethical, strategic PR, being a trusted and valued advisor to my clients and showing that outstanding work happens in the Midlands, not just London.”

Through Tillymint Marketing & PR, Alison supports organisations across various industries including construction and building products, manufacturing, trade associations and the pet industry – delivering strategic communications, media relations, thought leadership and integrated PR campaigns.

Alongside client work, Alison is recognised for her contribution to the profession through volunteer leadership with the Chartered Institute of Public Relations. As Chair of CIPR Midlands, she has driven initiatives in professional development, regional engagement and championing the value of PR across the region. She is also a member of the Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce Local Area Advisory Board for Stafford.

The winners of the CIPR Excellence Awards will be announced at gala awards ceremony in London on 1 July.
